How to Get a Flat Stomach and Lose Weight

Most of us have a few annoying pounds of belly fat that we would dearly love to lose. Unfortunately it is impossible to lose weight from just one area of the body unless you go and have it sucked out of you with liposuction. For most of us who would prefer to lose the weight in safer less expensive ways here are a couple of tips.

Bloating
If you are feeling bloated it can add inches to your waistline and make you look like you are a lot heavier than you are. Simply getting rid of that bloated feeling will leave you looking and feeling lighter. There are some foods that should be avoided and some that you should be eating more of:

Chewing gum. When you chew gum you generally swallow a lot of air that can cause bloating. The same goes for people who smoke and even those who talk quickly.
Fizzy drinks. Fizzy drinks don't stop being fizzy when you swallow them. They continue to release gas that can cause bloating.

Fried food is a big no-no as it takes ages to digest.
Avoid raw vegetables. While vegetables are always healthy you are better off eating cooked ones if you want to avoid bloating.
Reduce salt. High levels of salt in the diet lead to the body retaining a lot of water that can leave us looking bloated and puffy.
Bread. Many people find that bread (especially white) leaves them feeling bloated. Try going a couple of days without having any.
Stability
If you want a flat stomach you should be focusing on exercising your core muscles rather than your abs. The core muscles of the body control posture and stability and the ones around the diaphragm, waist and pelvis that make up the inner core of the body's muscles are the ones you should be exercising. Having good core stability will automatically improve your posture and the way that you carry yourself instantly making you look slimmer.

Stress
It is hard to live a stress free life these days and learning that stress may be making you gain weight is probably not going to help. The hormone Cortisol which the body releases when it is stressed has been clearly linked to weight gain and the desire for fatty and sugary foods. Cutting down on the stress in your life, while hard to do, may help you to lose weight.
